- VA panels are good for deeper blacks and contrast, while IPS panels are good for color accuracy and viewing angles. - A simple way to determine whether a TV has a VA or IPS panel is to knock on the screen and see if there's a glare or not. - This method isn't very scientific, so it's best to confirm which panel a TV has before buying it.
When comparing display technologies for color reproduction, IPS panels cover 95 percent of the wider color gamuts. VA panels are in the middle, covering anywhere from 80 to 90 percent of the wide color space. On the contrary, TN panels only cover the sRGB space and do not cover the wider color gamuts.
Good contrast, solid response times, and with decent amount of dimming zones (500-1000), the blacks are much deeper than either IPS or VA, approaching OLED levels in most scenes. Only thing is halo-ing, but unless you watch star fields or Christmas lights all day, it shouldn't be a problem in most other situations. 21.
I play pretty much everything. I would like to buy new VA AOC q27g2u 1440p 144hz freesyc + now also gsync compatible. I had 144hz ips in the past (2yrs back) but this new VA panel is basically half the price of 1440p 144hz IPS panels (LG 27gl850 / lg 27gl83a for example) . AOC is about 250 USD less in my country.

IPS vs VA. Between LED TVs, there are different panel types which each have their own effect on the contrast. Many TVs use Vertical Alignment (VA) panels, while others use In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels. VA panels provide a much higher contrast ratio than IPS, and this is because of the way pixels interact with each other.
